The Pink Ribbon Project was started in an effort to raise money for a breast cancer warrior, Elizabeth Kirk. In April 2005, Elizabeth was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Upon diagnosis, this type of breast cancer is already in the advanced stages, and most women do not live past five years upon being diagnosed.

Elizabeth is an RN at her local hospital, and although insurance covers the majority of her medical bills, there is still much more money needed to cover the costs of chemo, doctor visits, etc... I am Elizabeth's youngest child, and I organized a cancer benefit in honor of my mom, in order to raise money to help lift that financial burden. I designed breast cancer graphics that were printed on garments, and ordered quite a few to be sold within our area. After the successful benefit, I posted a few of the left-over items on EBay. I received great response, and were told many personal breast cancer stories from my customers. Some were tragic in ending, and others triumphant. Needless to say, I was touched by so many women. It was then I decided I would like to try and help other women raise money who are currently battling breast cancer. There are many organizations out there who donate percentages to cancer research. I am very thankful for these organizations, as I hope something will be found to cure all types of breast cancer; however, I sincerely want to help those women who may not be able to pay all of their bills. For those dealing with breast cancer, the diagnosis and fight is difficult enough, worrying about money should not be a main concern.

My part in the project is to offer my designs to be printed onto garments of your choice, at a somewhat low cost, for you to sell for fundraising purposes. The cost is dependent upon current market costs, as I have seen a fluctuation in garment pricing. I can also create an order form to help in the fundraiser, or even an informative booklet to be included, at a very low cost.

It is my desire to post stories of those women who participate in this project, because I feel that can help others who are battling breast cancer. Although we all know it is a widespread cancer affecting many women, I deeply feel hearing other's stories can help offer a sense of togetherness and sisterhood. So, this is one small request upon taking part of this project.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions!
